Glad that you clicked on this page! You are probably curious from reading the subject on the link on the website just what those steps are, and you will be surprised just how easy it is. If you’re wondering about Heaven and hell, they are both real. Once you pass on from Earth you will go to either one or the other. I’m hoping by clicking on this page that you choose Jesus and eternal life. Keep reading and your life will change...forever!
The Bible was written so that anyone in 8th grade can understand it, and God wants the steps to becoming saved to be a simple process. Even though the steps on being saved is fairly easy, you will have the rest of your life to change areas of thinking, actions, and values to show others of your commitment to Jesus.
Close your eyes, focus on Jesus above in the Heavens and pray these things -
Dear Lord Jesus:
1). I know that I am a sinner
2). Ask for His forgiveness
3). Acknowledge that Jesus died on the cross for your sins
4). Invite Him into your heart
5.) Tell Jesus that you trust in Him and you want to follow Him, that He is your Lord and Savior.
Congratulations, you are now a brother or sister in Christ! It’s as simple as that. Making the decision to follow Christ is the BEST thing you could EVER do in your life. Marrying a spouse is a great thing, but your salvation is way better!
The first thing you should do is to read the Bible daily. I know reading everyday can be difficult, because even for me it’s a tough thing to do sometimes. I’m not much of a book reader to where I can pick up a novel and read chapter after chapter in one sitting. We need to read even just a Proverb a day just to take in the word of God. The whole part of being a Christian is to change our focus upward (Godly thinking), and not across (worldly thinking). We need to change what I’ve heard before at church called our “stinking’ thinking’.”
We need to understand our areas of sin and repent, do a 180-degree turn away and not do them again. Pray to God asking Him for forgiveness and try to realize when that situation of sin comes up, (because it will as Satan will tempt you even more that you are living for Jesus), to resist. Everyone stumbles from time to time because only ONE person who ever lived on Earth was sinless, and that was Jesus Christ. You should confess, move on with life, and stop sinning. The more your family, friends, co-workers see the changes in you, that will make them wonder what's different in your actions.
Next, you need to find a Bible-believing church to attend on a regular basis to hear the word of God preached. We are to be in the world, but not of it; so the sermons each week will teach and remind you how you are to live. You will find to be more at peace the more you attend your new church home. This may take a little time to “shop around” either a couple, or even many churches to see which one you feel more comfortable at. Ask family or friends where they attend, but decide for yourself just where is a good fit for you.
Once you find a church that you like, get plugged into a men’s/women’s group, a life group, and fellowship on a regular basis. Usually at most work situations you will have quite a few non-believers and are subjected to environments where you may encounter foul language, lots of gossip, or you may hear people talk about wild parties they were just at. All of this non-Christian behavior that we are exposed to will in time breakdown our upward thinking (towards Heavenly things) and we start to act like non-believers. The fellowship with other believers helps encourage one another and feeds your soul. Who else should you get encouragement from than someone who’s also trying to live for Jesus?!?
After you are attending a church that you feel at home with, your next step should be baptism (if you haven’t already done this before). You are to be immersed (baptized) in water in front of your church congregation to publicly declare that you will follow Jesus as your Lord and Savior. You have prayed “the prayer” before and asked Jesus into your heart, but the Bible talks about baptism.
Now, stay focused on Jesus and be a light in the dark world that we live in. I’m so proud of you for making the decision that you made! After you get more comfortable with your faith, then you can tell others about Jesus and hopefully lead someone else to Christ!!
Once again, congrats and welcome to the family of God! We all make up the church, and you are now part of it.
